my love for chanel defenitly increased as i sat and admired the pieces from his SPRING 2010 collection, as other deisgners went for more futuristic looks karl went somewhere tottaly diffrent, most of the pieces were soft nude colour based with lots of elagance . kinda reminded me of a elegant yet a tad bit sensual colt .. sensual in the fact that although the clothing was less bright than others we've seen on the runway , the detail had added shimmer and oversized accesories that defeinlty gave the clothing more excitment . also most of the skrits were above the knee which changed the usally pale, lace skrit you'd find in your grandmas closet into youthful joy. some of my favourites were the transparent black dress bottoms with the white suit underneath, the carmel & peach bags were also something that caught my eye, in all this collection was another hit for chanel, they did a brillant job converting something boring and classic into something tottaly oppsite.
ps. i <3 karl .

shes got style .. ♥

meet rachel .. frankly one of the most honest and lovley girls i've ever met.
her is an interview with her .. a few questions about her style , fashion and what it means to her enjoy :)

Describe fashion.

to me fashion isn't just the trends, Vogue and fashion weeks. It's different for every person, and fashion can be both the latest look from the Chanel catwalks AND an outfit consisting of Uggs and an Abercrombie hoodie. It's a way to express yourself, and two people may feel completely differently about an item, but it's still fashion

what does it mean to you?

to me, it's a way to have fun! I honestly dislike it when it's all taken too seriously, as I feel people should just learn to enjoy it instead of constantly thinking 'is this 'IN'?' 'am I allowed to wear this with that?' And I love to sew a lot of pieces myself, so fashion is also a hobbie to me!

where do you find your inspiration?

I honestly don't find the clothes on the runway very inspiring, as they're shown as pieces of beautiful art which I can't relate to my life. I sometimes get ideas for outfits from magazines (mainly British Elle and French Vogue) but what I find most inspiring is the people I see on the steets, as I can to relate to their style easily. Also, I love looking at teenage girl's blogs for ideas!

who is your fashion role model and why?

probably Emma Watson; her style is very clean, she always looks amazing, it's often simple yet stunning, and on the plus side, she's a British girl who loves Topshop!

favourite designers?

I completely ADORE Stella McCartney; her clothes are extremely wearable, yet so beautifully tailored. She knows what suits women. I also love Alexander Wang as I could see pretty much all of his clothes being worn on the streets. And, like nearly everyone else, Balmain

any fashion ot beauty obsessions?

I wear high waisted skirts far too much, and my only beauty obsession is this Aleo Vera lip balm which I wear ALL the time!

what do you want to see happen to the fashion industry?

I really want to see something very new and exciting, as it often seems that the trends right now are just old ones tweaked a little. And I would love for there to be a whole load of new designers coming in, as although the ones at the moment are amazing, the fashion industry can only move forward

do you think the current economic situation is breaking the world of fashion?

I wouldn't say it was breaking it as I feel people are becoming a little more interesting and exciting with what they wear, finding lots of different ways to wear one item. And many people are now turning to buying second hand and vintage items, which makes outfits a little more individual. I can't say that I've seen a difference with the big designers, and with normal people I only think that it's made their style better!

do you think high fashion is the best fashion?

not at all. It's exceptionally beautiful, but it doesn't relate to the everyday modern woman. And there are only a few of us who can afford to buy wardrobes of it. But saying that, it's a great source of inspiration!

if you could, what designer, editor or model would you want to work with?

probably Anna Wintour. I strongly dislike some of her morals (especially fur) but she has changed the fashion world so much, what it would an amazing experience and I could learn so much. But I have no idea what I would wear when I was with her!

shes a great girl .

1. Define fashion , in your own words?

I think fashion is something that can change a person's perception of the world. It exposes the level of creativity that can be reached by a human and every season that level of creativity reaches a new high. Fashion for me, is like a vessel to just let out everything I'm feeling through clothing. Open Vogue or W when you're having a shitty day and you feel better in an instant. It's honestly a medicine for true fashion lovers.

2. What do you think the fashion industry needs right now?

I think we need new fresh things no one's ever seen before, I think we need some humor in the industry, somehting to bring us all together in "these economic times" which is why I got totally excited for Fashion's Night Out! I think that's exactly what we need & were having it.

3. What' your favourite item fashion accesorie at the moment?
I'm obsessed over the cloche 1920's style hats, Urban Outfitters is carrying alot of them.

4.Describe your style?

Masculine and feminine, 1920's inspiration here, a little 50's there, pearl & chains, boyfriend blazers, cloche hats, leather jackets, faux fur vests and cardigans.

5.What are you most anixous to see happen in the fashion industry?

Frankly I think the industry need to save Christian Lacroix and give Olivier Theyskens a house to design for. They are both truly great creators. Both points of view are not something you come across everday. I'm deffinatley anxious to see where Olivier will end up and if Lacroix will be bought.

6.Whos your fashion inspiration?

I don't really have anyone in particular I look to for inspiration. I usually get inspired by fashion photographs or photoshoots in magazines. Mario Testino's shots, Terry Richardson, Juergen Teller, Steven Meisel. I really get motivated and inspired by watching Marc Jacobs' documentary or Signe Chanel with Karl Lagerfeld. It shows what a designer really does day to day and the amount of work it takes to make it in the industry and it really tests you. You ask yourself, "Can I do all that?" " Am I strong enough for the business?" " Do I want to live like that?"

7.Do you think the current economic situation will effect how people look
at the fashion industry
?

Well I think the masses, the mainstream public may look at fashion as ridiculous during these times. They may think that spending $500,000 on a photoshoot during a recession is insane. But the "fashion masses" or people affiliated with the industry see that we are adjusting relativley well to the economy and fashion will be in a great element after Fashion's Night Out! I feel that FNO is really going to rejuvinate and refresh the industry.
